Yesterday AMG attended Tempo Tuesday hosted by SESAC at the King Plow Art Gallery in Atlanta Georgia. Moderated by Cappriccieo Scates Associate Director of Writer/Publisher Relations for SESAC; guest speakers were Grammy nominated producer Armando Colon and insurance broker Derrick McLeod.
Armando Colon’s multi-platinum hits include Busta Rhymes “Dangerous”, Cam’Ron “What Means the World”, and Lil Kim “Not Tonight.” Answering questions ranging from kick and snare placement to business lessons learned in the industry; Colon set a great tone for the evening.
Mr. Scates himself fielded questions from the intimate audience and stressed the importance of using social media to your advantage, and also networking building relationships with individuals at various levels in the music industry.
The night ended with insurance broker Derrick McLeod who presented health care options tailored to the needs of self-employed artists and industry professionals. The audience took this rare opportunity to talk about health care to ask questions about health savings accounts, determining the best premiums, and the benefit of using a broker to obtain health insurance.
The non-traditional turn Tempo-Tuesday took this week by discussing health insurance was a great display of SESAC’s commitment to artists not just as musicians but also complete individuals.
SESAC (Society of European Stage Authors & Composers) is the premier performing rights company in the industry with a reputation for high quality individual relationships with its clients due to a selective process of writer and artist affiliation.
Each Tempo-Tuesday is different. Hosted the second and fourth Tuesday of each month a King Plow (887 Marrietta St), this event is a quality networking event making its mark within the city and the music industry.
